President’s Message
Dear Reps,
Transfers are being worked on, but were most certainly delayed downtown. There will likely be some chaos with changes after multi-track school year begins since class size may change when some kind of settlement is determined. That chaos will continue for Single Track.
Received word that the Fact-Finding date is set for July 9. AEEA's goal was to have a settlement by June 30. The school board as far as I have heard is resolved to proceed to Fact-Finding. I have been told there is no plan to impose the last offer (six days and some sort of salary rollback), but I would be foolish to not accept the reality that once Fact-Finding happens, they could impose. With imposing comes our right to take a strike vote. You will receive more info tomorrow about a survey for members that will be done through Survey Monkey.
Your role as a site rep is crucial. You are the daily link to the membership. Folks have got to provide home email addresses or some sort of contact information. Track A is off, Single will follow, and A will be replaced by Track D. When any new developments arise later this month and in July, AEEA leadership (you, exec. brd, and me) need to have access to member input. If there was a settlement, we cannot put those wheels in motion without a vote. Your help is imperative.
Everyone is tired and overworked. The stress of Open House, report cards, end of the year, etc., etc., is getting to everyone. You all are amazing and have so many reasons to be proud. Your work and efforts for the students of ACSD are unmatched and often undervalued.
While the Clue Me In rally was successful, considering AEEA had just published the salary schedule with both six furlough days and a 3% rollback and a 5% one plus the days, I would have expected throngs of members standing in support of the bargaining and organizing teams and their efforts. Organizers are meeting again this afternoon, as they have every Tuesday for about the last two months. They intend to finalize plans for Monday's 4:00 rally at the District office. A few people cannot carry the weight of 900+. It was great to see so many new supporters out there last week, but what kind of committment have people made for Monday? How many have agreed to be there?
We want to support you in holding meetings etc. Please contact me if you need any support. The teams know there is a lot of support, but support has to be more than mental. What are people willing to do? What are people willing to do if the District imposes in July?
Postcards - please sort the cards by board member and bring them to the rep meeting on Monday. Try to proof them also. We all know it is easy to make errors when you are writing quickly. If there is more than one rep for your site, please make certain someone is at the rally and someone is at the meeting. It is the last meeting of the year until August. Bring new reps or new contact info if you can.
Thanks for all you do,
Kristen
